Great Days of Summer are here !

Memorial Day weekend starts the beginning of Summer and boy did we have a FUN and busy weekend.  It started with our usual long weekend walk on Saturday then much work around the house.  I am sooo thankful Avalon and I have four paws and not two hands or we would have had to help. Instead we got to stay up on the deck and watch and play.  Mom and Dad finished planting the garden, planted flowers, cleaned the beach and cleaned up the garage.  Busy campers !!

The next day we went for our weekend walk and swimming then later had many two legged guests come over.  Some were family and I could not believe it Miss M, Miss K and their grandparents came too.  Avalon and I even got to play with the guests on the deck.  Miss M took me down to the yard and played with me too.  I can't say I was on my best behavior but it is hard to be good when you are with Miss M.   My cousin Kylie who was there just graduated from her college ??  There was a cake and some gifts for her.  It sure didn't looked like the graduation we went to at KSDS Inc. but it was still fun.

Dad did BBQ on the grill and it smelled soooo good.  I sure wish Avalon and I could get the people food that was grilling instead of our every day dog food.

Happy Graduation Kylie
Hope you like being a teacher !!
I thought I would practice my commands and show everyone I know "up on" without anyone telling me.  I heard everyone laughing but Mom who said chairs are for two legged people not four legged puppies.  Had to get off and no treats  :(

Monday - Memorial Day came and the first thing Dad did was to put the new American Flag up on our flag pole.  You have to make sure it does not touch the ground so Dad was very careful.

After Dad put up the flag we went for our walk around the lake.  Didn't get to go swimming because me and Mom and Dad were going on a trip to Wahoo. First we stopped at the Veterans Memorial to pay respect to all of the Veterans who served our country then we went to see Grandma Schense at the nursing home.  She was happy to see me and told me how much I have grown.  Everyone talked for a while so I decided to get in a little nap to be rested for
the rest of the days adventures.   When we headed out again we stopped at a special building for Veterans (VFW) and gave them some of our old flags from our house.  I guess they make a special fire and burn them ?  Dad showed Mom where his Dad's picture was up on the wall there.  COOL !  After we left we went and stopped at my Dad's father's grave.  It was nice and pretty out there but Dad was sad.  He had tears in his eyes.  I wish I could have told him it was Ok to be sad.

Mom usually does not take pictures when we are out and about on our usual errands but when we were out at Home Depot I saw another puppy in the store.  I have not seen another puppy in the store before so this was exciting.  We got to meet each other and exchange sniffs.  His Mom said he was practicing being a therapy puppy.  I told him I was practicing to be a Guide/Service puppy.  I asked Mom if we could maybe invite him to my graduation ?

Another weekend came with our walks around the lake with Mom and Dad and swimming.  Dad said I have moved from a Jr. Jumper off of the boat dock to a full fledged JUMPER  just like Avalon.   It is sooooo fun to jump and swim.  Avalon gets a yellow ball but I have to have this funny looking long orange thing.  I guess I am not allowed to play with those yellow balls because it has something to do with KSDS college.  I don't really care as long as I get to play in the lake.  This is summer at it best !

This week I had my yearly Vet physical.  Miss M came along with us because Mom said she is a whimp at watching me get my shots.  They weighed me - 52 pounds - then checked my teeth and ears.  Next they put some clips on me and listened to my heart.   Mom gave them some of my poo which I thought was funny but I guess they check that for bugs.  They took me in the back room and took some blood then it was shot time.  The Vet gives you treats while getting shots and I was soooo focused on the treats that I did not even feel the shots.  I was also overly excited so it took Miss M and and Vet to help me stay still.

After the Vet trip Mom told me I had a special evening coming.  A sleepover at Miss M grandma's house in a tent.  Mom had packed my over night bag so off Miss M and I went over to Grandma T's house.  First Grandpa D helped Miss M put the tent up.  We had some dinner then I got my FIRST ride on a pontoon boat.  It was sooo cool.  We went around the lake several times.  Miss M and I stayed up front most of the time looking out the rails.

After the ride it started to get dark so we arranged the tent for the evening.  It was just going to be Miss M and me.  I was nervous at first but after a bit it was cool to be in the tent and all by ourselves.   I snuggled up to Miss M and dream land came soon.  When we woke up the next morning we had breakfast along with some special treats Miss M made for me. After breakfast we brushed out teeth and got dressed.  I stayed most of the day there coming home late in the afternoon.  What a great adventure !!

Next, I attended my first outdoor concert for the summer.  It was loud but fun listening to the beat of the music.   We walked around - Mom helped me to concentrate and not get off track then we practiced some commands.  Down and stay.  Mom even had some other people there try to distract me but I did good and stayed.  I knew if I did there was going to be treats and there was !!  I hope we get to go back again this summer this time with Dad getting to come.

SUMMER is here -

Mom and Dad finally got their car that doesn't have wheels.  It drives on water.
