The Dog days of Summer have been Busy !

 What does Summer mean ??
Camping in the house on wheels !  Because of the flood some of the places Mom reserved for us to camp were covered in water.   However, we finally got to go out the last week in June.  Dad brought the house on wheels over to our regular house a couple of days before we were to go out and Mom packed all of the people food and puppy food.  Off we went to Mahoney State Park.  It was a beautiful camp ground but soooooo HOT outside that we ended up spending more time inside then we had planned.  When we arrived the temp inside of the house was 98 degrees.  So GLAD the air conditioner worked and it cooled off.  It cooled off in the evening and we had a nice time outside exploring and relaxing.  Lots of BBQ for my humans but only puppy food for us.  When we got back home we got to go swimming in the lake for the first time.  The lake had to be tested for icky germs twice and everything came back OK.  I LOVE DADDY when he plays ball with us !!

Independence Day came shortly after our camping trip.  Miss M was at Grandma T's house so she and her cousin Tommy came and got me and I spent almost all afternoon playing with them.  Avalon spent most of the day inside since she is afraid of the big BOOMS !  I love them and love to watch them.  Mom and Dad came down later in the day and had dinner with them.  Again, no BBQ for me.  Miss M's Grandparents do a flag ceremony so I got to hear Miss M play taps and Miss K her violin.
Just before sunset rain and lightening came.  The wind started blowing really bad so Dad, Mom and me ran back home to make sure all of the July 4th decorations were still at our house.  All was ok but it was still raining some so we stayed at our house.  Later in the evening the rain stopped enough for the BIG BOOMERS in the sky.  Avalon was having a hard time so I decided to be a good sister and came inside to comfort her.

The next week we were off to do another presentation at the YMCA.  This time everything was OK driving there and no detours.  Miss M and Mom set everything up and I held down the fort.  We kind of have this down now.  I do a down stay then they put all the materials out for the presentation then the kiddos come.  Mom does some of the presentation then Miss M and I do the rest.  She talks about the do's and don'ts when you see a Service Dog then we do commands.  I have taught her well on her commands so she does a great job.  After we do commands I do a down stay and Miss M lets the kiddos pet me.  I have to stay paws down now so no belly ribs.  I sometimes protest but Miss M reminds me that feet need to stay on the floor so I don't accidentally scratch someone.

Mom and Dad finally got the car with no wheels out on the lake.  They had to wait till the boat garage was fixed from the flood and the boat got back from the repair man.  We didn't get to go out on the first ride because Dad wanted to make sure everything was working OK.  He said the next time they go out I get to go.  Avalon doesn't go because just like she gets car sick she gets boat sick  How funny but not so funny for Avalon.

We didn't get to plant our garden this spring because of the flood. It flooded our garden area but we did get to plant what they call a Fall garden.  Dad started by tilling up the dirt and we all helped plant the seeds.  Not all sure what we planted but Mom said in about two to three months we will have some veggies.  Hope all goes OK for them since we have never planted a Fall garden before.   Mom said canning season is just around the corner.  I love it when she makes jams but boy does it smell when she makes relish and salsa.

The next week we were off again to do a presentation.  This was a first for us.  We were at our local Library - The Papillion Library.  Didn't know what to expect but it turned out GREAT !!  Lots of kiddos and their parents came to see us and listen to Mom and Miss M.  The kiddos right from the beginning wanted to play with me but I told them they had to first listen to the presentation.  It was cool since the kiddos there understood puppy talk.  It has been awhile since I got to talk to a human that understood.  They were good campers and asked a lot of questions.  I showed them some commands I have taught Miss M then I did the command down and stay and everyone got to pet me.  I LOVE to be the center of attention - Should I say something like that ???

The next day Mom said it was time for my annual check-up.  She said check-up but I know that meant shots.  It was sooooo hot out that we dashed into the Vets office without even stopping to "hurry up."  Because of that I kind of left a deposit on the floor but the Vet said that was OK since they needed to take a urine sample anyway.  I lost 4 pounds which the Vet said was good - I was a little chunky the last time I was in.  I still have a mild issue with crystals but otherwise I am healthy.  I needed lots of cuddles to get my shots and nails trimmed which the Vet people gave me.

Hope Everyone is having a GREAT Summer and
Happy Independence Day Celebration !!
