Summer FUN !

Summer sure has been busy with lots of new adventures!  Let me tell you about one of them. Mom said we were getting a fence and that I would be able to play outside without my leash on.  Well, the fence guy came and I didn't see any fence going up.  Mom said the fence was installed
about three years ago.  She says it is invisible.  How funny ? When I was a puppy in training I was not allowed to use it but now that I am an Ambassador I can.  This really nice guy came and put up flags around the yard and I learned very quickly not to cross
over them.  It only took twice to
learn that.  It is cool now that I can go out and play with Mom and Dad and even Miss M without that long leash attached to me. I spent some time outside on the deck while Mom canned some really hot peppers.  I remember last year licking up some seeds that fell to the floor and I will never do that again!  Mom thought it would just be safer if both Avalon and I spent time outside plus it was a really nice summer morning.

When Mom, me and Miss M did a presentation at a Papillion school-age program a guy with a big camera came and was taking pictures and said he was going to write a story about my Ambassadorship.  When it came out in the paper Mom read it to me.  How cool !!  I really like telling people about how wonderful Guide/Service/Facility puppies are and doing it with Miss M.

Miss M and I get together most weeks and play and I have her work on her commands so we keep it fresh.  We went out the other week and practiced and at the end I got a bath.  We were going to do another presentation
and I was told I smell like the lake.  Miss M pulled out all the
cool spa stuff and I ended up smelling pretty darn good.  The next day we were off and did our presentation.  I had Miss M demonstrate her commands and I had Grandma T pass out KSDS coloring books.  This one was the last one for the summer since Miss M will be starting school soon.
I love spending time with Dad out on the beach.  I have trained him well.  I bring him the ball - he throws it and I bring it back to do it all over again.  Avalon does this too.  Dad says I should be in a

puppy jumping contest.  There are puppies who do this.  Avalon and I saw it on TV one time.  I think Avalon is a better jumper than me but she has had five more years of practice.
Mom and Dad went out for a boat ride and this time asked Avalon and me if we wanted to go.
Avalon never goes since she gets car sick but go figure she doesn't get boat sick.  However, she was kind of a pain and wanted to get up in Mom or Dad's lap all the time and even was whining some.  I don't think Avalon will go out with us again.  She likes to just stay home and watch from the deck.  That is fine with me because I get all of the attention.

My wonderful package arrived again.  I usually see the delivery guy and greet him with a bark.  He doesn't understand puppy talk.  Mom says I should be THANKFUL to Hills Science Diet for providing me my special puppy food.  They also provide it to all puppies in training and forever puppy and their partners when they graduate.

August is a wonderful month for Miss M and Miss K.  Both of them have birthdays.  Mom and me ordered some T-shirts for them.  I didn't get to go over and deliver them but Mom did.  She wished them a Happy Birthday for me.  When she got home Mom showed me the pictures.

I spent some time with
Miss M before she had to go back to school.  We worked on commands and played in the lake.  I have Miss M trained just like my dad to throw the ball so I can retrieve it.  We also went out on her private boat too.  This one though Miss M has to use something called a paddle to make it move.  It is nice and cozy in the boat and I like to just relax and take it all in.   I sometimes feel guilty making Miss M do all of the work but she seems to like it.  I hope even though Miss M is starting school we will still get to play in the lake before summer is over.
Miss M also works on commands with a HUGE puppy I think she called a horse.  I remember going with her before I left for KSDS and her showing me one up close.  She attended a command competition with her big puppy and won some ribbons.  I never got ribbons when doing command training with her so maybe it is just a big puppy thing.

Dad brought the house on wheels home for the first time about a week ago.  I forgot all about it.  He opened the door and yelled shotgun and I flew out and jumped in the front seat.  I remembered everything - All the smells and trips we took last year.
The next day Mom and Dad

loaded up the house on wheels and we were off for the weekend.  I got to sleep in the house without being in my kennel this time around which I loved. Mom said since I was no longer in training and have graduated I get to lick the syrup off her plate. She made french toast for breakfast.  I said I would like to have toast with the syrup too but that was not to happen.  Avalon got to lick off of Dad's plate.

Mom was soooo excited today.  We were in the paper again.  The Omaha World Herald called Mom last week and asked her how my training at KSDS college went since they had written a few stories about my adventures when I was in training.   She talked with them for a long time then today we went on-line and read the story.  It will come out in the paper September 3rd.  I love it when they do stories about Service Puppies and all of the wonderful things they can do for forever partners.

Hope you are enjoying your "Dog Days" of Summer and enjoy reading about my new adventure in the paper  :)
