The Dog House Adventure

It finally happened.  We went out in the dog house on wheels.  First though, Mom spent a week getting it ready.  Lots of shopping days.  I went on some of them with her and  helped her pick out doggie stuff for the house that Avalon and I would need.  We had some carts that were really full.  Mom spent several evenings putting everything away and every time she did she would think of something else the dog house needed.

Miss M and Miss K stopped over to see the dog house.  Mom showed them around then Miss M took me over to her Grandma T's house for some play time and command training.   I sooooo much like going to Grandma T's house.  We always have fun !!

The weekend came and we were off for our first trip in the dog house.  I reminded Mom to pack our food and bedding plus some play toys along with all of the stuff she was packing for them.  Avalon and I had to stay in the mud room while they were getting everything ready then the time came for us to go. Mom put us in the back of the Ford ??  I did not understand this and if Mom understood puppy talk I would have asked her what was going on ?  Mom and Dad headed out - Dad driving the dog house and Mom driving the Ford.   As we were driving to our camp site Avalon told me why we were in the Ford.  It was her car sickness which explained the blue tarp in the back of the Ford.  I will say, Avalon was true to her car sickness and left a deposit on the way.   I am glad I don't get car sick !!

When we got to the camp site Mom had special doggie leashes for us so we could be outside.  Mom and Dad worked about 3 hours setting up the dog house so Avalon and I had to entertain ourselves.   However, when everything was done we were off to explore.  There were lots of other dogs houses there and a club house which had really nice things inside that you could use at your camp site.  There was even a lake like at our house at home but this lake you were not allowed to swim in.  When it was time to go to bed I was surprised that my kennel showed up.  Just like at home. I slept in my kennel and Avalon got to sleep with Mom and Dad.  I did not think that was fair  :(

We stayed the night in the dog house.  In the morning Mom and Dad took us for a long walk around the lake before we left to go back home.  I didn't have to help unload the dog house because Miss M came over and she and I went back over to her Grandma's house.  She had this cool course set up and I practiced and practiced with her till she had learned what to do.   Grandma T even was filming us just like movie stars.  It was a lot of fun with refreshments at the end.  I was so tired when I came home that I flopped on the floor and took a long nap.

It is with some trepidation I need to tell you about a call from KSDS Inc. that Mom got the next week.   One of my brothers was limping so he went to see the Vet doctor.  He was diagnosed with mild hip problems and bone density issues.  Debbie at KSDS said it could be hereditary so everyone in my litter is getting called back to go see the special Vets at K-State.  Mom and Debbie talked on the phone and picked Wednesday for me to return to KSDS Inc.

Wednesday came a few days later and off we were around 10:00am.  Mom sat down with me before we left and tried to explain to me what was going to happen.  I was going back to KSDS for some special testing to make sure I did not have any hip or bone problems.  She told me I would be staying in the dorm rooms that we had early toured when we were there for Spring Graduation.  I would be getting my own room with other puppies there.  However, they are seniors in college and I wouldn't even be a freshman so I was really nervous.   Avalon though talked to me after Mom and told me she was called back for some special testing for her car sickness and it was nothing to be afraid of.

Mom and I finally arrived at our destination to meet with Debbie only to realize that we had the wrong day.  It was to be the next Wednesday.  Mom talked to Debbie and they decided Mom would just drive the rest of the way to KSDS.  I was secretly glad because I was still a little scared.   I think Mom was excited because she thought she was going to get to play with all of the baby puppies there but when we arrived we found out they were still too young to play with.

Debbie came out to the Ford and took me inside and showed me around.  They stopped to talk with some other two legged staff people there which I was not too happy about since I wanted to get moving.  I tried to let them know that by jumping up on Debbie a few times.   I truly do not understand how they can be professors at KSDS college and not understand puppy talk.   Maybe when you start your classes they understand then ?  All I can say now is that they are really nice and sweet people and made me feel sooo very welcomed along with the other puppies in training.  I think I will be here for a week before the Vet appointment so will try and do some training with the staff.  I will see if they are as easy to train as Miss M.

Avalon was able to sneak on Mom's phone and send me some pictures of them out again camping in the dog house. I sent them a video of me.  I have my phone hidden under my bed.  I hope the staff doesn't find it because I think they might take it away.  KSDS sends out special videos every week so I hope Mom is getting them so she knows I am OK.  Even though I am not officially back at KSDS I still am getting to participate in command training and obedience training.   My favorite time is play time !!

Not sure when I will get to write again.  I am getting ready to leave for K-State this morning for my testing.  I hope there are no needles involved.  I really don't like them.  I hope everything is Ok for me and everyone in my litter.  I want so much to continue with my training and become a Guide/Service puppy for a forever partner.
