Summer is winding down and Fall is around the corner

Miss M came over to visit and we had a GREAT time over at the tennis courts playing then taking a swim at the beach.  Miss M made me stay on my leash while swimming - Mom doesn't - but Miss M said I sometimes have a mind of my own and will take off.  She didn't want that to happen.
We still had FUN and played for a long time.  We came back to Miss M Grandma's house and Miss M gave me a bath outside.  Not the spa ones I am use to but a hose bath to get the sand off of me.  Miss M started school soon after  that so I don't get to see her as much now  :(

However, before school started Miss M, Grandma T, Mom and me went for a walk around the lake.  I showed them what a jumper I am now.   Avalon and I get to jump and swim there just about every day when we go out for a walk/bike ride so I have had lots of practice over the summer.  Miss M and Grandma T were impressed.  I could have stayed there all day showing them my jumping skills but every good thing comes to an end.

Mom and Dad went on a trip to Lincoln to see a person named Garrison Keillor.  Since it was in Lincoln it was an overnight trip for them. Puppies were not allowed - At least that is what Mom and Dad said but I think they just wanted a weekend-free puppy night.  So Miss M and Grandma T babysat Avalon and me.  I am not sure who had more FUN !!   Miss M came and got us several times both days and we played games, practiced commands a little and had treats.  It was a little scary during the night because we slept alone in the house but bright and early the next morning Miss M was there.  I was so excited to see her that my bladder got the best of me.  I sure hope Mom and Dad have Miss M babysit us more often.  Avalon and I sure like them !!

Mom left one day to go see my two legged sister Aunna because she said Aunna had become a puppy Mom.  She is a first time Mommy. Her four legged baby's name is Frankie.  He came from a rescue for French bulldogs.  Mom said he has some issues with other puppies right now so I could not come along.  Maybe when he gets settled in Mom said we can take another trip and go visit.  I hope that is soon.  I like playing with other puppies.  I could even teach him some commands !

Mom and Dad have not had our home on wheels out lately because of the Lincoln trip they took, then the eclipse that was going to happen in Nebraska.  No camping sites were open.   So we took a training trip to a store to buy things for the home on  wheels.  It was a cool store and had special treats for puppies.  Dad picked some up and I did some command training with him while we were in the store.  He did a good job and got lots of treats.

When we got back from our trip we spent the evening out on the deck watching baseball with Dad.  We have not done that for a long time since we are usually out in our home on wheels on the weekends.   Dad had adult treats and we had our puppy treats plus Dad gave us a few peanut snacks when Mom was not looking.

Mom has been taking me out more with her again when she runs errands.  It is not as hot as it has been so I can walk on the concrete without burning my feet.  Plus Mom said home school has kind of started again for me too. Summer vacation is over.  Soon I will be heading back to KSDS for my college training.   I am kind of nervous about going back but I know my other litter mates will be there so I am excited to see them again and hear about all of their stories about home schooling.

Finally the eclipse I have heard everyone talking about came.  Mom said the moon will be  covering up the sun and it will look like night during the day.  The first thing though that happened that day was three little puppies come over for us to babysit while their Mom and Dad were moving.  I went over to say 'Hi" and make sure they were OK.  Told them not to do any remodeling in there because that makes Mom unhappy.   Mom worked on canning corn while we waited for the eclipse.  It was cloudy so you could not see the sun or moon so we watched it on TV.  They made special glasses for two legged people but they didn't make doggie ones so Avalon and I would not have been able to watch outside anyway.  We were watching on TV and all of a sudden it did get night during the day.

With fall comes BIG RED NEBRASKA FOOTBALL !!  I remember watching many games with Dad last year.  They even went on trips out of town to watch them but I never got to go.  However, this fall I get to go to a game.  Mom called and asked if we could get seating in the handicapped section and they said YES !  That way I have room to sit too !!  I am sooooo excited !!

Dog Days of Summer !!

Mom said it is Summer Vacation time for me.  Just like Miss M and Miss K they get time off from training during the summer.  We have been camping a lot in our new home on wheels plus just about every day we go for a bike ride around the lake and get to go swimming.

Camped at Two River State Park.  Mom and Dad said it is the first time they were able to reserve a spot.  Lots of fun and many walks.  Dad did pizza on the grill but like every other time it was people food not puppy food :(

Dad let me sleep in the bed room with them for the first time.  The next morning I was informed it was the last time I would get to sleep with them.  Back to my kennel in the living room.  I woke Dad up too many times during the night.  I was just checking to make sure he was alright !

Great walks around the park and we even stopped to swing on this cool four person swing.  Avalon did't even get sick.  Mom and Dad have been giving Avalon some special pink pills for her motion sickness and it has been working like a charm !

Miss M came and picked me up one day when it was cooler and we played outside. Since I am on summer vacation I didn't do any command training with her.  However, we got to sit in the grass and listen to Miss K play her violin for us.

Mom spends a lot of time in her garden.  Her veggies are coming alive !  Every now and then when Mom isn't looking Avalon and I will sneak a veggie.  I really like the small red things.  Just the right bite size.  If Mom sees us she chases us away !  I am usually  too fast for her and get to keep my catch.

Mom has started canning.  I am not to fond of her pickle relish.  It smells soooo icky when she is cooking it that I leave the kitchen and go on my bed.  It takes most of the morning when she is canning but she hurries so we can still get our bike ride and walk in before it gets too hot.

On our way camping again I asked Mom what all of those tall green trees were ??  She said it is corn.  Nebraska is known for it's corn I am told.  It will grow some more and then when it turns brown in the fall a big thing Mom called a tractor will come and pick it up.  I asked her if they will do that in her garden but Mom told me we didn't grow any corn.

We went to a cool camping spot again after the drive through the corn.  However, it was not the most exciting camping adventure we have had.   We had to spend a lot of the time inside because it rained.  I even got tired of the smell of wet dog in our home on wheels!  Mom got out some air freshener so it got better.  Dad had to BBQ in the rain but thank goodness we have an awning on our RV.

In between rain storms Mom left us and went on a poker run game with some other people who had homes on wheels there.  They drove around in small cars that didn't have any doors on them.  Dad, Avalon and I stayed in the RV and watched a movie.  Dad was not feeling very good - He has a summer cold.  Hope we don't catch it !!

The next day the rain stopped so Mom and I, and later on all of us, went on a walk on the trails out in the woods.  It was cool,  We even saw some deer.  I wanted to go up and say hi but they had nothing to do with me.

When we got back home Mom was up to caning again.  This time she wore funny stuff on her face to protect her from the HOT pepper seeds and smell.  I found a seed on the floor and thought I would pick it up for Mom but that was not the thing to do.  Mom told me not to do it but you know me I kind of do what I want at times.  Won't do that again.

Since I am on summer vacation right along with the HOT - HOT temps we have only taken a few training trips out and about.   The concrete is just too hot to walk on plus the car gets sooooo hot inside that Mom thinks I might over heat before it cools down.  I don't mind staying at home but it is starting to get boring.  I am ready for fall and more training trips again.

I think SUMMER is the best time of the year.  Swimming is the best thing to do.  If I could swim in the lake all day long I would !!   My jumping skills are getting better and I think I can jump just as far as Avalon off of the boat dock now.

Hope you are enjoying your SUMMER  !!

Mom said fall is around the corner which means school will be starting for me soon !

Summer Holidays and Trips

There has been soooooo much going on the past couple of weeks that I thought I would just tell most of my story in pictures.

I have spent time with Miss M working on our obstacle course and other commands.  Miss M gets so excited when I do the commands she asks me to do that I get lots of treats.  I kind of act like I really don't always understand what she wants because if I do I get even more treats. Miss M thinks she is still training me - She doesn't know I am training her to give me more treats.

Mom and me went to Shadow Lake Mall for their outdoor concert again. It was really hot this time around so Mom bought a beer for herself.  What she didn't plan on was spilling some of it when she was trying to sit down.  I raced over and cleaned up the mess for her as soon as I could.  I like the taste of beer.  Much better then the old water we get all the time.

We only stayed for a short time  because all of a sudden the music stopped and they closed down the concert.  A bad thunder storm was coming.
One of my favorite things in the world came again in the mail.  Hills Science Diet dog food.   They provide all the puppy food for the puppies in training plus the Guide/Service dog food for the new forever partners.

I like to help Dad open the box and check things out.  I was a little aggressive and Dad wasn't to happy. He made me sit/down for a few minutes before we went on our weekend walk.  I could hear Avalon laughing at me.  She told me one day I would learn to settle down and this would not happen.
During our weekend walk we usually stop at the boat dock and go swimming.  Avalon and I love to fetch sticks and jump off the dock.  If I had my way I would spend all of my time outside doing this.  One  day however it was a different story.  I would have left in a heart beat.  There was this awful siren going off just a short distance from us.  Dad said it was a test of the sirens that warn two legged people that a bad storm is coming and to take shelter.  Mom said she would show us where we would go if we were at home.  I hope no storms come !!

When we got back from our walk Dad took us down to our beach and we played and played.  He throws the toy in the lake for us then Avalon and I retrieve it just to do it over and over again.  Sometimes we roll in the sand and it gets all over our bodies.  Dad does not like this because he says the sand then comes in the house with us and makes a mess.  I told him Avalon and I would clean it up but just like most two legged people he doesn't understand puppy talk.  You would think after Mom and Dad have raised 6 puppies to be Guide/Service dogs they would figure it out.  Maybe there should be puppy talk classes ?

Independence Day - United States of America !!

What a GREAT time we had over the extended Holiday weekend.  Soooo many things to do and see !

Lights in the sky - I guess they call them
FIREWORKS !

They were very loud - I love them but Avalon went inside the house.
Miss M had a cousin of hers come over to visit later on in the week.   Miss M brought her cousin over to my house to introduce us.  Shortly after Miss M and her cousin took me over to the tennis courts so we could play.  I showed her cousin the commands I have taught Miss M and he was impressed.  I thought I would teach her cousin some but teaching commands is hard work so we just decided to play and have some fun.  I think I must have caught the ball and brought it back a hundred times.  It is hard tiring out these young two legged people !!  I was getting tired too.
I got to go on another pontoon ride with Grandma T, Grandpa D, Miss M and her cousin.  Mom came along too.  I really like riding on the pontoon.  On the pontoon you can walk around and see everything on the lake, other boats, the houses and even these birds that swim in the water.  I had to bark at a few to let them know we were coming so the boat would not hit them.  You would think they would know that since they swim in the lake but some of them didn't.   They kind of did this funny swimming/flying thing to get out of the way.  Look out birds here we come!

Camping time once again !!
