Fall and Thanksgiving

Fall is here because Mom and Dad spend a lot of time outside raking up things that fall from the trees.  Avalon and I usually just watch since there are no rakes designed for puppies.  I love our weekend walks around the lake.  There are soooo many new smells with all of the things
falling from the trees.  No  swimming though.  Miss M comes over sometimes and takes Avalon and I out to play.  I do a little command training with her to keep her skills up.  Miss M also goes on walks with her BIG four legged puppy.  I am glad Miss M doesn't ride on my back.  It would look funny and I am not sure I could hold her up.  Maybe some day Miss M and I can go on a ride.  I wonder what a puppy saddle would look like ??  Will need one.

That white stuff fell from the sky.

My two legged sister - Aunna and me had a health scare recently.  Aunna had to go to the emergency room and stayed in the hospital.  She has something now called migraines that effect her balance and vision.  On top of that she got a really bad upper respiratory bug.  Mom was spending a lot of time with Aunna and she got that bug too.  TWICE :(  Aunna has a four legged puppy but while she was at home recuperating another four legged baby came to live with them.  This one Mom said was a kitty.

My scare was my legs just seemed to stop working.  I went to bed feeling just fine then the next morning they felt funny and I could not stand on them.  Dad tried to help me but nothing worked.  As soon as the puppy emergency room opened Mom took me.  They gave me something that made me fall asleep.  Mom told me they took x-rays of my legs and poked me to get some blood.  They didn't find anything so we were sent home with meds that made me feel loopy.  If things didn't get better in two days I was to go back.  However, after one day on the meds and resting I got up the next morning and surprised Mom and Dad by walking out of my bedroom.  Go figure ??

I am so happy to announce we are going to be adding a new two legged person to our family.  That means our extended family will grow by one two legged person named Drew, one four legged puppy named Frankie and last one four legged kitty named Olive.  I heard there is something called a maid of honer and best man at a wedding so I am hoping they will be asking me and Frankie.  Maybe Sage can be a flower girl.

Mom and me changed out the marquee here at the lake and put up Tom Turkey

Lots of human cooking went on all day on Thanksgiving.

Dad didn't have to do much cooking for our four legged Thanksgiving dinner.  It came in a bag.

This year it was just Mom, Dad, Avalon and I for Thanksgiving.  It seemed odd but Mom told me that family and friends were either leaving town or not coming to town this year. I thought this was kind of cool since that meant Avalon and I got to eat Thanksgiving dinner with Mom and Dad.  However, we only got our Thanksgiving dinner in the bag. Not so cool. The only sad thing about the Holiday was Dad's Huskers didn't win their football game so football season is now over for them.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving

Fall in Nebraska

Fall is here so the summer decorations came down and the fall decorations came out.

Last of the tomatoes were harvested and Mom made some smelly green salsa.

Miss M, me and Mom did our last presentation for this year at the Papillion Library.

Always love the end of a presentation.  Belly rubs !!

Got to spend some time with Miss M and Tommy.  Avalon came along too !!

Halloween was a COLD one this year !!  We stayed inside and just put the candy in a bucket on the porch this year.
Happy Halloween
Mom and I decorated the marquee before the snow came.

Fall in Nebraska is Football

Dad says there is nothing like Fall and Nebraska football !!  Mom is in charge of the marquee at the entrance to our lake and we always post something new each weekend before the game.

Grandma T asked Mom if she wanted to meet Miss M's new big four legged puppy.  Mom said yes and so did I.  However, Grandma T said the new big puppy is just getting to know his surroundings so maybe next time I can go.  Miss M is doing command training with him.  I wonder if he can sit, stay or rollover like I can?  Mom took pictures for me to look at and boy is he BIG.  He is so big he even has his own house and bedroom.  He also has his own special house on wheels when he travels.  How cool is that !! His name is Dakota.

Mom and I visited with Kelly at the Papillion Public Library.  We talked about me coming to do another presentation then planning other activities at the Library.  Story time with the kids, some special events and other activities.  Kelly just started her job at the Library so is just getting to know the ins and outs. As she gets more familiar with her job we will plan other activities.  I tried to tell her about some of our other activities we have done with kids but she doesn't understand puppy talk.  It was fun though to visit again and see some of the library staff.  They are so nice and gave me lots of belly rubs and even some kisses.
We watch Nebraska football every Saturday here at our house but this one Saturday was special.  That is what dad said anyway.  Something called ESPN was live in Lincoln Nebraska talking about football all morning before the Huskers played.  Dad had five TVs on so he could watch it from about every room in the house.  Mom stayed mostly in the kitchen canning tomatoes and watching.  Thank goodness it was the nice canning stuff and not the icky smelly relish she makes that has vinegar in it.

The next day we harvested our fall vegetables.   Some long orange things.  I guess they tasted OK but not really my thing.  Mom diced them all up and she said she uses them in stews and soups in the fall and winter.  I bet I won't see any of them in my fall dog food dinners.  I just don't understand why there has to be people food and dog food and we can't share with each other.  Theirs changes up every day and ours stays the same thing day after day.  To me this is just not fair!

Our BIG day finally came for us to travel to Lincoln in the house on wheels and go camping and to a Husker game.  Dad came home from work early on Friday and loaded up all the stuff that me, Avalon and Mom packed for the weekend.  Mom and Dad were having some of their two legged friends for a tailgate party at the RV before the game.

Well, let me tell you a story
about our weekend trip !!!Just before we left Dad took me and Avalon
for a last minute "hurry up" then I called shot gun and jumped up in the RV. Avalon went into the garage where the Ford was parked.  Avalon rides in the Ford because she still gets car sick most of the time.  Mom headed back in the house to make sure everything was turned off then she jumped in the Ford and followed Dad in the house on wheels to Lincoln.  When we got there Dad and I opened the back of the Ford and NO Avalon !!  Panic was had by ALL !!
Mom called Grandma T and asked her to check our house.  There was Avalon still waiting in the garage to get in the Ford and head out with us.  Boy, was everyone relieved she was there.  Grandma T babysat Avalon over the weekend and when I came back home Avalon said she had a wonderful time with Grandma.  Walks around the lake, treats and plenty of hugs and kisses.  I might stay home next time !!!

On Saturday it was game day.  We got up and took a short walk then Mom and Dad started to get ready for the tailgate party.  Huxley - puppy in training - parents came but no Huxley.  I thought I was going to get to have someone to play with and go to the game with ?  His parents were concerned he might not be quite ready for such a BIG field trip so they came alone.  Bummer !!  However, I got lots of hugs and belly rubs from all of the guests so all was OK.

Boy, where there lots and lots of Husker fans walking around.  I had to really keep on my paws not to get stepped on or bumped into.  Mom was really watching out for me so we made a great team.  There is a special place for handicapped people to sit and watch the game and that was where we were.  Mom and me met
lots of Husker fans and Mom was able to spread the word about KSDS.  I had handouts in my backpack and we gave those out too.
There was only one glitch in the whole day.  Right when we got to our area a gentleman next to us put his popcorn on the floor and the wind blew it over and popcorn flew all over.  I was trying so hard to pick it all up but for some reason Mom and Dad didn't like that.  After a short time a worker in the handicapped area came and swept it up so everyone could concentrate on the game.  Dad was sooooo exited about the game and would stand up and yell when the ball game to something he called the end zone.  I stood up to yell too but he told me only human yells were allowed.  I had to mind my manners after that.  It was a FUN day !!

Huskers beat the Wildcats - Go Big Red !!!

Fall is here and Big Red Football !!

Summer has come to an end even though it still feels like it.  Mom and Dad always go to our Village Luau at the end of the summer so that is a sign that summer is almost over.  Avalon and I had to stay home because Avalon is sooo afraid of the big booms in the sky.
Mom took me when I was still in

puppy training to listen to the loud music but we came home before the big show and watched from our deck.  I love to watch the big booms in the sky but since  my sister hates them I usually go inside to comfort her.  However, I sneak peeks out the window and watch.

With the end of summer this probably means the car on wheels will be coming out of the lake soon.  Mom and Dad are thinking about getting another kind of boat for next year so Avalon and I can go out with them more !!

When Fall arrives that means Mom starts making smelly stuff in the house.  I think she calls it pickle relish.  With having super noses like all of us puppies have I asked Mom to go out on the deck so I didn't have to smell the icky stuff.  I just don't understand - Something smelling so icky when Mom is making it taste so good to Dad when he puts it on his food.  Go figure ??  I am hoping Mom is going to make the good smelling stuff soon !

Mom, Miss M and I did our last presentation of the summer the last week of August.  It was at a Library in another town not far from us.  Their newspaper called and interviewed Mom over the phone and it was in the paper before we did our presentation.  Mom and I read the story on the computer but by the time we went to the Plattsmouth Library the papers were all sold out so we didn't get a copy.  This presentation was really cool !!  There was a service dog and his forever partner that came to hear our presentation.  I was kind of nervous since he was a graduate of CCI and knows all of his stuff.  However, after the presentation Miss M and I got to meet him and he was really cool.  We even got to talk puppy talk together.

The weekend after the presentation was a BIG Day in the State of NEBRASKA.  There is No Place like Nebraska and Husker Football or at least that is what my Dad says.  The game was an early one so we had to get up and get moving for our weekend walk before the game.  Dad had to stop and load up on his poo bags as he calls them and during our walk we even got to stop and go for a quick swim.

While the game was on Mom was up to her canning again.  Thank goodness it was some red things and didn't smell like the pickle thing she does so we all stayed in the house and watched the game.  Dad and one of his two legged friends went to the game in Lincoln.  He told me in about a month I was going to get to go to a game !  I can't wait!!  That means spending the night in the house on wheels and wearing RED to the game.

Not much happened the next week.  Really the same old stuff.  Up and breakfast, walk with Dad, Mom walks Avalon later, chores around the house then dinner and bed time.  I sure wish Miss M was not back in school.  I loved it when she would come over and we did command training then had swim time along with doing presentations.

It was BIG RED football again.   This time the game was in the afternoon so we didn't have to get up and get moving right away.  Dad started some of his cooking stuff before the game and it baked all afternoon.  Made the house smell like spaghetti.  Dad was really excited and was jumping up and down so much that Avalon and I didn't get much relaxing time watching the game.  If I remember right last year was not a good year for our new Coach Frost so everyone was hoping all would be right with the world and football this season.  So far - Won one game and now lost a game :(

The Huskers played again this weekend.  We went for our walk but this time didn't get to swim.  Mom and Dad wanted to go pick pears before all of the games started on TV.  Dad's Huskers didn't play till 7:00pm.  Dad was soooooo excited all day.  We got to watch a bunch of other games during the day.  Mom made really
nicer smelling stuff this weekend.  Apple butter I think is what she called it.  I asked if we would have some on our food in the morning but she said it only goes on toast and that is people food.  I hate to say this but Avalon, me and Mom fell asleep before the game was over.  Dad woke us up to put us to bed and told us his Huskers had won.  I don't think Mom knew till morning since she does not like to get woke up after she falls asleep.  I sure learned that the hard way a couple of time !!

Coming this weekend if the rain they are forecasting stays away we will be in the house on wheels and will watch the game from our camp site.  I am so excited.

There is No Place Like Nebraska
Little Red & Herbie Husker !!
